 The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI) denounces the imprisonment of a citizen for 7 days, dated the 23rd of August, 2014, pending investigation- by the Bahraini authorities- due to an accusation of insulting the Rashidun Caliphs (Righteously Guided Caliphs) on his Instagram website. This imprisonment came as a prelude to referring him to the court.

 The Department of Cybercrime has filed a complaint with the public prosecution, in which it stated that a Bahraini citizen is publishing phrases deemed insulting to what they called “Rashidun Caliphs”. The authorities were managed to determine his address after tracking his computer that he uses, and then they stormed his house and arrested him. The citizen was referred then to the prosecution, which has ordered his imprisonment for 7 days pending probe, in preparation to be referred to the court.

The Bahraini authorities should free the detained citizen and stop the censorship on cyberspace, ANHRI demands.
